Privacy Policy
Effective 7 September 2026. This policy explains how TekWagon, the operator of TekWagon, processes personal data when you use the service.
1. Controller and contact
TekWagon is the controller for the personal data described in this policy unless another controller is clearly identified for a third-party service. Contact: hello@tekwagon.com.
2. Data we process
- Account data: email address, display name, authentication identifiers and account preferences.
- Household financial data: accounts you define, balances, transactions, categories, budgets, recurring items, goals, forecasts, scenarios, notes and household membership information.
- Notification data: browser push subscription details and notification preferences when you opt in.
- AI data: questions you submit to AI and the relevant household context needed to answer them. We also process provider, token, cost, latency and feedback metadata used to operate and protect the feature.
- BYOK credentials: if you connect your own OpenAI API key, it is encrypted before storage and is not returned to your browser after connection.
- Security and operational data: audit events, error information, rate-limit events and technical information needed to secure and operate TekWagon.
3. Why we process data
We process account and household data to provide the service you request and administer your account. We process security, fraud-prevention, reliability and abuse-prevention information for our legitimate interests in protecting TekWagon and its users. We process information where necessary to comply with legal obligations. Optional features that require consent, such as browser notifications, remain optional and can be switched off.
4. AI providers
Quick-answer calculations are performed by TekWagon without calling an AI provider. When you explicitly start or approve an AI conversation, TekWagon may send your question and relevant household context to the configured provider. The interface identifies when AI is being used. Do not put unnecessary sensitive information into AI prompts.
5. Service providers
We use specialist providers to host and operate TekWagon. These currently include Supabase for database/authentication infrastructure, Vercel for application hosting, Resend for transactional email, and OpenAI when an OpenAI-powered AI feature is used. Providers process data only for the services they supply and under their applicable contractual and privacy terms.
6. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside your country or the European Economic Area. Where data-protection law requires safeguards for such transfers, we rely on an applicable adequacy decision, contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism provided by the relevant processor.
7. Cookies and tracking
TekWagon's public beta does not use advertising or behavioural-marketing trackers. The app uses storage and cookies that are necessary for authentication, security, theme preferences and core app functionality. If we later add non-essential analytics or marketing technology, we will update this policy and introduce the consent controls required by law before activating it.
8. Retention
We keep account and household information while your account or shared household needs it. When you delete a sole-user household, its household records are deleted through database relationships. In a shared household, records that belong to the household may remain for the other authorised members while your personal account identifiers are removed or de-linked where practical and lawful. Security/audit records may be retained for a limited period where needed to protect the service, investigate abuse or meet legal obligations.
9. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, including the GDPR, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, obtain portable data, and complain to a supervisory authority. 10. Security
We use account authentication, row-level database access controls, environment isolation, encryption for stored BYOK credentials, rate limits, privileged-action audit logs and other technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the service. No internet service can promise absolute security, so please use a unique password and protect access to your email and devices.
11. Children
TekWagon is intended for adults and is not designed for children. Do not create an account if you are under 18.
12. Changes
We may update this policy when the service, providers or legal requirements change. The version and effective date appear above. When an update requires renewed acknowledgement or acceptance, TekWagon can require that before you continue using the app.
